Unit 3 Logo Designs (Adobe Illustrator)

This is the final development of the 'Bloomin' Bees!' logo design, I live traced the font sketch using Adobe Illustrator, later fine tuning the lines edges by smoothing them using the 'Free Transform' tool. I maintained the 'hand written' feel to the font however as I thought that this looked more effective than using a already established font. From the original logo design I altered various features such as the dashed font and the addition of the vector bee in place of the letter 'i's tittle. I also altered the colour of the flower petals to create a more gender neutral logo for the brand.

First development for the 'Bloomin' Bees!' logo design. The first logo that I created using Adobe Illustrator is from one of the original sketches. I scanned the sketches onto the computer before using a tool to live trace them. I next created the flower vectors using the 'Ellipse Tool' and then the 'Free Transform Tool' to manipulate the shape created into a more petal shape before placing them in an arrangement of a flower. I experimented with a range of colours before finalising the first development of the logo with pale pink petals for the vector flowers. I also created a bee vector using the same process.

First development of the 'National Bee Campaign' logo sketch. For this design I experimented with various fonts, picking out designs that I felt suited the brand. This particular font gave the logo a 'young' feel to it as it is similar to handwriting. This would suit the target audience being a range from children to adults however it would not be completely desirable if the brand was to establish a more sophisticated approach, hence the following development.

Further development of the logo design, featuring addition of vector bees and a change of font. After considering that the campaign may focus more on an adult target audience I experimented with further fonts before choosing this one to represent what the logo would look like if a different font unlike the original was used. It immediately gives the logo a more 'grown up' image, beside the addition of vector bees. I kept the vector bees included despite the idea that they bring an element of youth to the logo as they serve the purpose of not leaving the logo consisting of only text.

Final development of logo design showing different shades of yellow for the bee vector. The only change featured from the previous development is the alteration of the vector bees. I altered the second and third bee vectors by reducing the tone of yellow each time for each bee vector, this increased the number the colours present in the logo which also increased the depth to the logo.

Trace of original sketch with addition of bee vector for the 'NBC' logo design. Another logo sketch that I produced on Adobe Illustrator is the design for the 'NBC' or 'National Bee Campaign'. The logo features the dashed trails similarly left by cartoon bees, and also a small vector bee that I created using the 'Brush Tool' in Adobe Illustrator.

Style of the logo sketch recreated using a font rather than 'Brush Tool' within Adobe Illustrator.  Similarly to the other design I decided to try the logo with a solid font rather than the traced font from my original sketches. The change of the font gave the logo a more professional sophisticated look that is more appropriate for the target audience being aimed at adults.
